Powys in Partnership with Housing Associations

Powys has developed partnerships with local housing associations where empty properties may be renovated at zero cost to the owner. This has been developed from the landlord loan scheme where the housing association and local authority fund works. The housing association repays the council loan on behalf of the property owner in exchange for a long term (minimum 10 year) lease. During the lease, the housing association retains 100% rental income to recover costs. Property returns to owner as renovated asset at end of lease.
